JJ X-Ray Slit Systems

The JJ X-Ray Type 3 slit seen above is the classic JJ X-Ray slit; for a long time complemented by the much smaller ESRF slits.

In recent years, the demand for special slits has pushed our product portfolio to a point where these two types just don't describe our product portfolio very well. As a result we have decided to reclassify our slit products.

Since all our slits have micron-resolution and near-micron repeatability, in general it suffices to classify our slits in terms of

  • Blade motion: Individual Blades (IB) or Aperture Translation (AT)
  • Position of Aperture in slit body: Centered (C), Off-Center(F)
  • Maximum Aperture Opening in mm:
  • Slit Operation: In air (AIR), in high vacuum(HV), or in ultra high vacuum (UHV)

Using this naming convention we get:

  • The JJ X-Ray Type 3 slit in Air becomes: IB-C30-AIR
  • The ESRF Flange slit becomes: AT-F7-HV
  • Our new UHV slits would be called: IB-C30-UHV
  • and so on.

Our present list of standard slits thus includes

  • IB-C30-AIR (aka. JJ Slit Type 3 - Air)
  • IB-C30-HV (aka. JJ Slit Type 3 - Vacuum)
  • AT-F7-AIR (aka. ESRF Air)
  • AT-F7-HV (aka. ESRF Flange)
  • AT-F8-AIR
  • AT-C8-HV
  • AT-C30-HV
  • IB-C30-UHV (aka. JJ Slit type 3 UHV)
  • IB-C80-AIR (aka. Neutron slit)
  • IB-C140-AIR (aka. Large Neutron Slit)

As specified in the detailed product description, these slits can be customized in various ways, for example by choosing custom blade materials, thicknesses and geometries, choosing various encoder schemes, choosing various mechanical mounting and connection options or choosing only 2 blade slits as opposed to 4 blade slits.
